Lenten Devotions: March 20, 2014

March 20, 2014                      Psalm 95

Thursday                                 Exodus 16:1-8

                                                Colossians 1:15-23

Paul, in his letter to the newly formed church at Colossae, seeks to acknowledge their accomplishment and to reinforce their faith. These verses provided for me another synopsis of Christ’s mission while here on Earth and after his death and resurrection. Christ, the Son of God, is the embodiment of God. No one can even begin to comprehend the omnipotence of God the Father; but on the other hand, Jesus was born here and walked the Earth, visible to his contemporaries, created in the image of God and provides us with tangible proof not only of God’s power, but also his love for us. These verses remind all that Christ has redeemed us from our sins by his crucifixion and death on the cross and then subsequent resurrection.

Heavenly Father, you gave your only Son to walk among us briefly and then to die for us and for our salvation that we might inherit the kingdom of heaven. Help us to be always mindful of his great sacrifice for us. Thank you Lord for this great gift.
